JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

Ready to transform the way students live? At Greystar Canvas, we don't just manage buildings — we create vibrant communities and unique living experiences. As Operations Manager, you are the bridge between strategy and execution: implementing the Canvas operating model, leading high-performance teams, and taking every property to its full financial and experiential potential.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement the operational strategy: Translate the vision and operating model defined by the Regional Operations Manager into concrete results across every property in the portfolio.
  • Day-to-day asset management: Oversee the daily running of each property, identifying deviations and taking corrective action to maximise asset performance.
  • Propose solutions and escalate with judgement: Identify operational issues, propose viable solutions, and manage critical escalations to the Regional Manager when needed.
  • Uphold Canvas and Greystar standards: Ensure every property meets and exceeds the operational, quality and brand standards set by the group.
  • Execute the PBSA & Hospitality model: Bring the student accommodation business model to life with a genuine hospitality mindset, creating memorable experiences for every resident.
  • Operational control of systems (Yardi / Mews): Manage the operational control of key technology platforms, ensuring correct usage and maximising process efficiency.
  • Support team training and development: Actively participate in training and developing the team, ensuring everyone masters operational processes and systems.
  • Monitor revenue and occupancy: Continuously track commercial performance, analyse rates and occupancy levels, and coordinate with the central team to optimise revenue.
  • On-site commercial support: Provide hands-on operational support for commercial initiatives, ensuring flawless execution of sales and marketing actions on the ground.
  • Lead new asset openings: Head the mobilisation, lease-up and stabilisation of new Canvas properties — from snagging management to designing the ultimate resident welcome experience.
  • Cross-functional coordination: Execute and follow up on commitments made with central HR, Finance, Systems, and Sales & Marketing teams.
  • Guide the operations team: Provide daily operational guidance to the team, including the Operations Team Assistant, ensuring coordinated and high-quality execution.

  • Solid understanding of Spanish tenancy and buildings management legislation.

Experience & Skills

Essential

  • Proven management experience in multi-site operations, ideally in hospitality, retail, leisure or property sectors.
  • Demonstrated track record of operationally executing new asset openings or property launches.
  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary environments, coordinating diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial acumen and high-level financial analysis and management competence.
  • Resilience under pressure and agility when adapting to shifting priorities.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to drive teams towards results.
  • Widely respected as an inspiring leader, especially by direct reports.
  • Dynamic, confident profile with a genuine focus on the customer and resident experience.
