JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Associate — Strategy & Operations, Americas Principal Business partners directly with APB's most senior leaders to support the platform's highest-priority strategic and operating initiatives. A defining feature of this role is serving in a chief-of-staff capacity to both the Head of Americas — overseeing investments, development, and shared services across the region — and the Head of US Investments, providing dedicated support on communications, priorities, and cross-functional execution at the most senior levels of the platform.

This Associate will also play a critical part in standing up APB's new FP&A function and supporting the team through the annual Business Planning process. This role is built for someone who thrives in ambiguous problem spaces, can build an executive-grade fact base quickly, and is energized by operating at the center of a high-performing investment platform. We are looking for an experienced strategy and operations professional with 3–5 years of experience in real estate, investment management, consulting, or corporate finance. An MBA or similar graduate degree is a plus.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Serve in a chief-of-staff capacity to the Head of Americas and Head of US Investments — managing priorities, preparing briefing materials, and ensuring follow-through on key commitments across investments, development, and shared services.
  • Support the buildout of APB's new FP&A function — helping establish foundational processes, reporting frameworks, and team infrastructure from the ground up.
  • Lead APB's participation in the annual Business Planning process, coordinating inputs across the platform, managing timelines, and producing consolidated deliverables for senior leadership.
  • Partner closely with Greystar's technology organization to support APB's platform transformation agenda — serving as a bridge between the investment business and tech teams to drive adoption of new tools, systems, and ways of working that keep Greystar at the forefront of innovation in real estate investment management.
  • Support workforce planning efforts across APB, including coordination of global staffing initiatives and partnership with Greystar's India-based team on offshoring strategy and execution.
  • Spearhead APB-wide initiatives including Town Halls, the annual leadership offsite, and other platform-wide programs that drive connectivity and alignment across the Americas business.
  • Lead the end-to-end execution of high-impact, cross-functional initiatives — defining problem statements, building the fact base, aligning stakeholders, and driving delivery against timelines and measurable outcomes.
  • Structure and solve ambiguous business problems by developing hypotheses, prioritizing analyses, synthesizing insights, and translating findings into clear recommendations and executable plans.
  • Craft compelling executive narratives, briefing materials, and talking points that translate complex topics into crisp, stakeholder-ready messaging for APB leadership.
  • Build and maintain financial models, workforce trackers, and recurring reports that support resource allocation, financial planning, and investment decisions.
  • Coordinate work across investment teams and partner functions including finance, operations, and technology; proactively remove roadblocks and maintain momentum on key programs.
  • Identify and implement process improvements — scalable tools, workflows, and best practices — that improve how the team plans and executes complex initiatives.
  • Complete various financial, administrative, and other reports and analysis, and perform other duties as assigned or as necessary.

Basic Knowledge & Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in real estate, investment management, strategy consulting, corporate finance, or a comparable cross-functional role with direct senior stakeholder exposure.
  • Undergraduate degree required; MBA or similar graduate degree a plus.
  • Genuine interest in AI and technology transformation, and a track record of applying new tools to improve how work gets done.
  • Demonstrated ability to structure ambiguous problems, build a defensible fact base, and deliver executive-ready outputs in PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complexity into clear, actionable recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Sound commercial and operational judgment with a proactive, problem-solving mindset; able to anticipate risks and downstream implications.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills to effectively track and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to deliver through influence without direct authority across a matrixed organization.
  • Experience supporting or building FP&A, financial planning, or business planning processes a plus.
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with M365 tools a plus.
